Is the French River a river? Don’t be confused by the name of this water system. This is not two banks and a rushing stream.
The early French explorers called this part of the river “Lac Jeune Marie.” They saw it for what it is, a system of chain lakes in an ancient fault line, full of islands, bays & channels. A beautiful, enchanting and sparsely inhabited geography. Perfect to explore by kayak, canoe, small motorboat or on foot.
